FARADELK - Hydro/Electrometallurgy Design Associates

About Us

Faradelk is a group of highly experienced hydro and electrometallurgical designers all with strong backgrounds from major engineering and construction companies.

This experience covers a wide range of project sizes-from several hundred thousand dollars to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Faradelk brings these individuals together to pool their respective experience, knowledge resources and data bases for a very focused service – the production of high quality level feasibility/conceptual studies for clients with small to medium sized projects and the review/auditing of studies and engineering for operating companies , engineering companies and financial / lending institutions. An additional service is the provision of low cost small SX/EW plants .  The range of technologies covered is restricted to copper leach/SX/EW, copper electrorefining, zinc and nickel SX/EW.  A small range of subjects is covered at a very high experience level.

The range of processes covered is

-          Comminution
-          Agglomeration
-          Dump leaching
-          Heap leaching
-          Agitated tank leaching
-          Solvent extraction
-          Resin ion exchange
-          Electrowinning
-          Electrorefining
-          Cathode melting and casting

Services for studies include

-          Process design
-          Flowsheeting
-          Outline equipment specifications
-          Preliminary plant layouting
-          Take offs
-          Capital cost estimating
-          Operating cost estimating

For our small plant projects these are supplemented with

-          Detail design
-          Specifications
-          Procurement/shipping
-          Erection
-          Commissioning

Why Faradelk?

The production of conceptual/feasibility studies is often performed by the in-house engineering capability of large mining and metals companies.  However, sometimes such groups lack E&C know how and experience and in many cases smaller mining companies do not have such engineering staff.  The initial investigations for projects do not need the cumbersome, high overhead, procedure riddled inefficiency of large organizations.  Our experience in major E&C companies has demonstrated many times that such studies can be produced to near basic engineering level at down to 30% estimate accuracy by small teams, provided the team members are all well experienced in this type of work and the technology involved.   Faradelk has the experienced people and E&C background to fill these needs.

Many years experience has proved that “knowing the answer” is not as important as “knowing where to find the answer”.  Faradelk has a network of associates throughout hydrometallurgical and electrometallurgical plant equipment and process suppliers, leach and soils consultants, product marketing groups etc. which ensures that the correct parties are consulted for all parts of a project study.

Beyond Studies

Supplementary to our work in conceptual design is a logical extension to small plant projects.  The same experience in large L/SX/EW plant design allows us to know where costs can be minimized, particularly in small plants to dramatically reduce costs but maintain the integrity of the flowsheet and product cathode quality.   The resultant design, “Relex”, is a low cost demountable and relocatable SX/EW unit whose cost is minimized by using:

  •  “Industrial” application of “domestic” items
  •   Off-the-shelf item sizes
  •   Site running of flexible pipe
  •   High intensity design
  •   Reduced civil works
·

Designs are available to suit ½ t/d to 15 t/d of copper cathode production for short life facilities with services scoped from design packages to build own, operate, transfer (“boot”) concepts.  Two types of design are available, a small capacity portable system mounted on trailers and larger flow, more permanent but relocatable design for longer life or larger projects.

Faradelk  offers wide experience in the design of SX mixer settler contactors , both  “ Conventional ” and “ Reverse Flow “. Additionally for clients with space restrictions or the need to reduce exposed organic surfaces high intensity designs of contactor are available.

Our company is based on the belief that our customers' needs are of the utmost importance. Our entire team is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.
